What did I learn in the course?

In this course, I have learnt that there is another way of teaching and learning English through CLIL and CRLL. Because students will not learn only the target language but also the content of any subject, real contents. In this way, students will be more engaged in learning with real materials. I think it is a balanced instruction, focusing on content and not too much on form.

 

How has the course impacted my future teaching and ideas? How has it contributed to my development as a teacher?

This course made me think that this method would be great if it is implemented correctly. I mean, teachers need to work collaboratively to create original materials. Importantly, they must have good command of the target language. This method can be applied to all ages.

 

What have I learnt with the project and how has it made me rethink/reshape my role as a language teacher?

I have learnt that it is not easy to learn contents with a foreign language especially in biology class. However, that language barrier is broken once the materials are designed for the target students and teaching leading to a meaningful learning. Besides, visual aids, miming, repetitions and comfortable setting help the students to understand the topic.

How have I participated in the course project?

In our project, I was the one who prepared the film set and who filmed the whole class. I was also in charge of editing the video and uploading the materials on WIX. While editing, I had problems of timing because I had to shorten it to 5 minutes. I also participated in giving ideas on the creation of our topic.
