Laura Gracia Bauret - Co-designer of the Art class: Narure Morte
1. What did I learn in the course?
I think that I have learned so many different aspects regarding CLIL throughout the course. However, in my case, there is one that has had a high impact on me and has changed my preconceptions. It is the idea that we can implement CLIL no matter the age and no matter the level of the students.
2. How has the course impacted my future teaching and ideas? How has it contributed to my development as a teacher?
This course has changed the conception that I had a bout CLIL. I have been taught through CLIL, both in French and English, and I was already aware of the multiple benefits that it has on students. However, we didn’t start CLIL until we had a good level of the language, and I thought this was essential for students in order to assimilate the concepts. Nonetheless, thanks to the theoretical classes and the experience I had with the final project, I can see now that I was wrong.

3. What have I learnt with the project and how has it made me rethink/reshape my role as a language teacher?
I have to say that I wasn’t one hundred percent sure if was going to be able to make myself understood entirely in French. I had this doubt not only because our students didn’t speak French at all, but because I was going to teach them language and content. The final result was extremely satisfying because they all understood the art contents and the vocabulary words that we wanted them to learn. Thus, this experience has taught me that implementing CLIL with students that have a low level of the foreign langue is completely possible.
4. How have I participated in the course project?
The four members of our group have had a very active role in the project. We all met to decide the idea and plan the contents we wanted to teach to our students. Then, Mercè and Samantha were charged of buying the fruits and bringing them the day of the class, and Judit was charged of printing the painting of the “nature morte”. I had to prepare and organize the different steps of the class and think a little bit how to make myself understood in French, since none of our students knew French. The day of the class I conducted it entirely in French with the help of my teammates who were giving me the different papers to put in front of the fruits and objects. Finally, I uploaded the video along with the written explanation to the wix platform. All in all, we were very happy with the project and I want to say that I enjoyed it a lot.
